Video review software compared: 13 tools and who each one is for

There is no single best tool: the right one depends on your editing app, how many people need a seat, and whether clients or regulators are involved. Here is what each tool costs and does, from its own pages, so you can match it to how you work.

We make post-prod.io, which is listed first. Every other entry is from that tool's own pages, linked under it, read in the month shown. We have not tested or scored them; prices change, so check before you buy.

How to choose

  • • Your editing app. Some tools live inside Premiere or Final Cut as a panel; others send notes to your editor as markers.
  • • Who needs a seat. Per-member pricing gets expensive as a team grows; check whether reviewers and clients count.
  • • What reviewers can do. Notes on the frame and drawing are common; versions side by side, approvals and suggested edits less so.
  • • Security and compliance. If clients ask for SOC 2, ISO 27001, TPN or SSO, shortlist the tools that state them.
  • • What else it is. Some are review tools; others are hosting platforms, media libraries or general proofing tools with video in them.

Questions

What is video review software?

A place to upload a cut and collect feedback on it: notes pinned to the exact frame, drawings on the picture, replies, versions to compare and an approval, usually with share links so clients can review without an account.

Several list one: Frame.io, Krock.io, Filestage, Ziflow and ReviewStudio among the tools here, and post-prod.io. Limits on members, storage and projects differ a lot; each entry below says what its free plan includes.

Which tools charge per member and which per team?

Most here charge per member or per user (Frame.io, Wipster's Team plan, Krock.io's Pro, ReviewStudio, MediaSilo). Filestage, Ziflow and Kollaborate list flat team prices with a set number of users. post-prod.io is one price per team with unlimited members.

Do reviewers need an account?
