How to get review notes into Premiere Pro as markers

Retyping a client's notes into Premiere markers is the dullest part of a revision. The notes already have timecodes; they should arrive in your timeline on their own.

Updated 23 October 2026

In short

  • Export the notes as Premiere Pro (XML) with your sequence's start timecode.
  • File > Import the .xml: every note is a marker at its timecode.
  • Mark notes done with a ✓, export the markers as CSV and import them back to tick the notes off.

Export the notes as a Premiere file

  1. 1Open the cut on post-prod.io and go to Export (or the Editor view).
  2. 2Choose Premiere Pro (XML) and the timecode your sequence starts at (00:00:00:00 or 01:00:00:00).
  3. 3In Premiere, File > Import the .xml. It arrives as a sequence with every note as a marker at its timecode, ranges as markers with a duration.

What each marker carries

The marker's name is the start of the note, tagged with a short id so it can be matched back later; its comment holds the whole note, who left it and, for a suggested edit, what kind of edit it is. Notes already resolved come out marked done.

Send the done ones back

As you work, mark the notes you have dealt with (a ✓ at the start of a marker's name counts as done). Export the markers from Premiere (File > Export > Markers, as CSV) and bring that file back with Import done markers: the matching notes tick off for everyone.

Questions

Can I bring Frame.io comments into Premiere this way?

This exports the notes left on post-prod.io. Notes left elsewhere would need to be left here first; there is no importer for other tools' comments.

Does this work with drop-frame timecode?

Yes. Markers are written at the video's frame rate, and at 29.97 or 59.94 you can tick Drop-frame timecode so the labels match your sequence.
