How post-prod.io works

Short guides for everything you can do. Can't find it? Email contact@retti.ai.

Start a project and upload

  1. Make a project for each video (Projects → New project), then drop your cuts anywhere on its page. Whole folders work too: their sub-folders come along.
  2. Files up to 150 GB. MP4, MOV, MXF, MKV, WebM and most other video formats are fine, and so are WAV, MP3 and other audio files (they get a waveform to review against); anything else is skipped and you're told which.
  3. The upload tray in the corner shows every file. Two go at a time, the rest wait their turn, and you can keep working on other pages while they go.
  4. If the connection drops, uploads wait and carry on. If you close the tab, drop the same file again: it picks up where it stopped.

Leave notes

  1. Pause anywhere and type in the Note box: the note is pinned to that exact frame. Press Post (or Ctrl Enter).
  2. Drag across the timeline to note a stretch, or pick Draw on the left and mark the picture itself. Notes for the whole cut go under Whole cut.
  3. Hold the microphone to speak a note; it is written out for you. Reply under any note, and resolve it when it's done.
  4. Search and filter the list above the notes: open or done, one person, or only suggested edits.
  5. Three layouts: Editor (1), Review (2) and Focus (3). Press ? in the review for every shortcut.

Suggest an edit

  1. Pick a kind (cut, zoom, blur, swap shot, speed, audio, text fix or colour). It starts at the playhead; drag its ends on the timeline to set how long it lasts.
  2. To swap a shot, drop an image or a clip straight onto the picture.
  3. Press B, or the Original / Suggested switch, to play the cut with the suggestions in it before anyone touches the timeline.

Share for review

  1. Press Share in a project. Reviewers type a name and email: no account, no seat.
  2. Each link can have a password, an expiry date, downloads on or off, a watermark and approval on or off. You can change those later from Share links; the same URL keeps working.
  3. To bring someone onto the team instead, invite them from Team, or send the team's join link.

Versions and compare

  1. Drop the next cut onto a file's card to stack it as V2, V3 and so on.
  2. Notes carry across by matching the sound, and V2 shows what was fixed. Compare two versions side by side, with a wipe, or as a difference.
  3. Set each version's status: In review, Needs changes or Approved.

Export

  1. Export (top right of a review) gives you the notes as text with timestamps (.txt, .md or a .csv spreadsheet), or a .zip of the notes with every swap shot, named by its time.
  2. Markers for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and Avid are under Export → Markers.
  3. Big zips download through your browser's own downloads, with its progress bar.

Team, roles and access

  1. Owner: everything, including the plan. Admin: the team, settings and API keys. Member: uploads, reviews, shares and organises.
  2. A project can be open to the whole team or only to people you add (People in the project). People you add can edit or only comment.
  3. Members are unlimited on every plan.

Your account

  1. Profile: your name and picture, which emails you get, change your email, download your data, or delete your account.
  2. Workspace settings: rename it, the daily summary time, delete the workspace. To leave a team running without you, make someone else owner from Team first.

If something goes wrong

  1. Stuck on processing or failed? Export the file again as H.264 MP4 and upload that.
  2. "Upload paused": drop the same file onto the project again to finish it.
  3. A link says it's off or expired: ask whoever sent it for a new one.
  4. The status page shows whether post-prod.io is up.

More questions are answered in the FAQ. Is it down? See the status page.
