In short
- Send a short brief with the cut: what it is for, what stage it is at, what you need from this round.
- Ask four or five specific questions instead of “thoughts?”.
- Ask for every note in one format: where, what, why.
The brief to send with the cut
- What this is: [title], [length], for [where it will be published].
- Stage: rough cut / fine cut / final. At this stage, notes on [structure / detail / mistakes only] help most.
- Please leave notes by [date]. Everything on the review link, pinned to the frame.
- Not ready yet, so no need to note: [music, colour, graphics, captions].
Questions to ask reviewers
- Where did your attention drift? Leave a note on that frame.
- Is anything confusing, or said twice?
- Is there anything on screen that should not be there (a name, a logo, a typo)?
- Does the opening make you want to keep watching?
- Is there anything missing that you expected to see?
The format for every note
- Where: the frame, or the start and end of the stretch.
- What: one change.
- Why: what you felt, or the rule it breaks.
- Show: draw on the frame, box the area, or suggest the edit.
Closing the round
- Thanks, all [n] notes are in. The next version will be up by [date].
- When it is right, please mark it Approved on the review link so we have it on record.
Questions
Is there a template for thumbnail feedback?
The same note format works: where (a box on the image), what, why. Review it at feed size, next to its title, on a phone.
