How to get review notes into Final Cut Pro as markers

Final Cut has to-do markers built in, which is exactly what a list of review notes is. FCPXML brings them in as to-dos, in place, so the timeline doubles as the revision list.

Updated 23 October 2026

In short

  • Export the notes as Final Cut (FCPXML).
  • File > Import > XML: the notes arrive as to-do markers at their frames.
  • Tick to-dos complete, File > Export XML, and import it back to tick the notes off.

Export and import

  1. 1On post-prod.io, Export > Final Cut (FCPXML).
  2. 2In Final Cut Pro, File > Import > XML, and pick the file. The notes arrive as to-do markers at their frames.
  3. 3Work through them; tick each to-do complete as you go.

Send the completed ones back

File > Export XML from Final Cut, then Import done markers on post-prod.io. Every completed to-do ticks off its note, so the reviewer can see what has been dealt with before they watch the next version.
