Coming from Frame.io

Switching from Frame.io

Most of it works the way you're used to: a link, notes on the frame, versions. Here's what's named differently, what the keys do, how to bring your files and comments over, and what it costs with your team and your storage.

  • Pay for the people who upload and manage. Clients and reviewers are free guests.
  • Drag a Frame.io download in. Folders are kept, and files named _v1, _v2 stack as versions.
  • Bring comments over from Frame.io's CSV export, onto the version they belong to.
  • Turn on Frame.io keys in any review, so J, K, L and M do what your hands expect.

What you'd pay

Two things decide it: how many people upload and manage, and how much storage you keep. Frame.io includes far more storage per member, so for a big library it can be the cheaper one. This says so when it is.

Billing

Frame.io

$75 a month

Pro: 5 members, 10 TB included.

post-prod.io

$50 a month

Creator: 5 admins, 1 TB included.

Agency would be $149 a month.

About $25 a month less here.

  • Frame.io prices are before tax and billed monthly; yearly is shown as about 13% less, as Frame.io lists it, because its annual prices aren't printed.
  • Frame.io storage is read as: Pro 2 TB plus 2 TB for each member after the first; Team 3 TB plus 2 TB for each member after the first.
  • Our storage add-ons (250 GB, 1 TB, 5 TB) cost the same billed yearly.
  • Frame.io prices from frame.io/pricing, read 26 October 2026. Check before you buy.

Bringing your work over

1

Files and folders

In Frame.io, choose Download, or Download All Assets for a whole project. Then drag the folder onto a project here. The folders come with it, and files whose names end in _v1, _v2 (or V2, rev2, (2)) stack as versions of one file. You see the grouping first and can change it.

2

Comments

In Frame.io, open a file's Comments, then the ••• menu, Export comments, CSV. Here, open the file's menu and choose Import notes from Frame.io. You see which column is which and a preview before anything is saved. Replies come too, and completed comments arrive resolved.

3

Lots of files

With Frame.io's own API and your own developer token, a small script on your computer can send a whole project's download links here (tools/frameio-import.mjs, with your post-prod.io API key). Your Frame.io token stays on your machine; we never see it.

Download the script
  • • Frame.io share and review links can't be pasted in: they're pages in Frame.io, not files. Download the files instead.
  • • Drawings and attachments on Frame.io comments don't come over. The note says where a drawing was.
  • • Imported notes keep the person's name, marked (Frame.io). Nobody gets an account or an email.
  • • Version order from file names is a guess. Check the preview before you upload.

Switch checklist

  1. 1Count the people who upload and manage. That's how many admins you pay for. Clients and reviewers are free.
  2. 2Pick the projects you're working on now. Leave the archive in Frame.io for the moment.
  3. 3Download them from Frame.io and drag the folders in. Check the versions it found.
  4. 4For files with open comments, export the CSV from Frame.io and import it onto the matching version.
  5. 5Make new review links. Old Frame.io links only keep working while your Frame.io plan does.
  6. 6Turn on Frame.io keys in the review (press ?).
  7. 7Set up markers for your editor: Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or Avid.
  8. 8Tell your clients once: same kind of link, no login.
  9. 9Keep Frame.io for a short overlap, and download anything else you need before you cancel.
