In short
- In Premiere 25.6 and later the Frame.io panel is built in: Window > Frame.io > Frame.io V4 Panel.
- Only V4 accounts work there. V3 (legacy) accounts show greyed out and open from Window > Frame.io > Frame.io (Legacy).
- On older Premiere versions, the legacy extension from Adobe Exchange gives a Comments panel, back to Premiere 20.0.
- Panel missing from the Review workspace? Window > Workspaces > Reset to Saved Layout.
Match the symptom to the fix
- The account is greyed out: it's a V3 (legacy) account. Open it from Window > Frame.io > Frame.io (Legacy).
- There's no Frame.io panel: on Premiere 25.6 or later, open Window > Frame.io > Frame.io V4 Panel; on an older Premiere, install the legacy extension from Adobe Exchange.
- The panel is gone from the Review workspace: Window > Workspaces > Reset to Saved Layout.
- Comments don't show on the timeline: switch the comment markers on in the panel.
- You can't find a share setting: permissions and branding open in Frame.io in your browser, not in the panel.
- New exports keep stacking as versions: turn off auto version stacking, or use Export New Version when you want one.
Check your Premiere version
- 1In Premiere, open Help > About Premiere Pro (Premiere Pro > About on a Mac) and read the version.
- 225.6 or later: the panel is built in. Use Window > Frame.io > Frame.io V4 Panel.
- 3Earlier than 25.6: install the legacy Frame.io extension from Adobe Exchange for the V4 Comments panel. It brings comments, not the full panel, and goes back to Premiere 20.0.
Check your account type
Frame.io has V4 accounts and older V3 accounts. The built-in panel signs in to V4 accounts only; a V3 account appears in the list but can't be picked. Use Window > Frame.io > Frame.io (Legacy) for a V3 account. Signing in opens a browser tab.
Still stuck
Frame.io's panel has a user guide inside it, and Frame.io's support team handles account and sign-in problems.
If you'd rather not depend on the panel at all, any review tool that exports notes as a Premiere XML of markers gets the notes onto your sequence with File > Import. Our guide to review notes as Premiere markers covers that route.
Or use a different panel
post-prod.io's panel works in Premiere Pro 2020 (14.0) and later on Windows and macOS. Pull notes puts every review note on your open sequence as a marker, pulling again updates them, Mark done resolves a note from Premiere, and Upload to post-prod sends your export up as the next version. It's for admins on a post-prod.io team, and your reviewers don't need an account.
Questions
Why is my Frame.io account greyed out in Premiere?
It's a V3 (legacy) account. The built-in V4 panel signs in to V4 accounts only; open a V3 account from Window > Frame.io > Frame.io (Legacy).
Which Premiere version has the Frame.io panel built in?
Premiere 25.6 and later, under Window > Frame.io > Frame.io V4 Panel. Older versions can use the legacy extension from Adobe Exchange for comments, back to Premiere 20.0.
Why don't Frame.io comments show on my timeline?
Comment markers show on the timeline when you switch them on in the panel.
Is there another way to get review notes into Premiere?
Yes. Tools that export notes as markers (a Premiere XML) put them on your sequence with File > Import, and post-prod.io has its own panel for Premiere Pro 2020 and later.

Comments and markers
Comments from share-link reviewers come into the panel as they're left. Clicking one moves the playhead to it, and you can reply from the panel.
To see them along the timeline, switch comment markers on in the panel. Frame.io says the markers stay anchored to the timeline, so they keep their place better while you edit.
