Video review software

Review the cut. Approve it at V2.

One link for your editor, your clients and your sponsors: notes on the frame, edits they can show, and versions that carry the notes forward.

In short

  • Video review software is where a cut goes to collect feedback: notes pinned to the frame, drawings, replies, versions to compare and an approval.
  • Clients and reviewers open a share link; on post-prod.io they review without an account.
  • post-prod.io adds suggested edits reviewers can play, renders from the full-quality original, and notes out to Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut and Avid.

Updated

What it does

Feedback that ends the round.

On the frame

Notes where they belong.

Pin a note to a frame or a range, draw on the picture, or leave a General note on the whole video. Replies stay under the note they're about.

Notes on the frame

Voice notes

Talk instead of typing.

Record the note on the frame and it comes out as clean text the editor can read and search.

Suggested edits

Show the change, don't describe it.

Reviewers trim, punch in, blur, swap a shot or fix a subtitle, and everyone plays it on the cut. Write “tighten this shot” and post-prod offers the edit.

Suggested edits

Versions and renders

Notes follow the cut. The final comes from the original.

Notes move to the next version by matching the audio, V2 says what was fixed, and the fixes render as MP4 or ProRes from the file you uploaded.

Choosing one

What to look for in a review tool.

Who needs a seat

Per-member pricing grows with the team. Check whether reviewers and clients count; on post-prod.io only admins do.

How reviewers get in

A link with no account gets clients to actually review. Passwords, expiry and download control keep it private.

Your editing app

Notes should land on the timeline, as a panel or as markers you import, not in a spreadsheet you retype.

What reviewers can do

Notes on the frame and drawing are common. Versions side by side, approvals and suggested edits are less so.

Security and compliance

If clients ask for SOC 2, ISO 27001, TPN or SSO, shortlist the tools that state them.

What else it is

Some are review tools; others are hosting platforms, media libraries or general proofing tools with video in them.

Questions

What is video review software?

A place to upload a cut and collect feedback on it: notes pinned to the exact frame, drawings on the picture, replies, versions to compare and an approval, usually with share links so clients can review without an account.

Is it the same as video editing software?

No. You still edit in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro. Review software is where the cut goes for notes and sign-off, and the notes come back to your editing app as markers.

Do reviewers need an account?

Not on post-prod.io. They open the link, add their name and email, and review: notes, drawing, voice notes, suggested edits and approval.

How is it priced?

$10 per admin a month, or $8 a month billed yearly, with 200 GB each shared by the team. Guests never take a seat.

How does it compare with Frame.io and the others?

We keep a sourced comparison of the main video review tools, with what each costs and who it suits, on our video review software comparison page.

Can I try post-prod.io before paying?

There's a sample video you can open and review the way a guest would, with notes on the frame, drawing and a suggested edit. Plans are $10 an admin a month.
